Made new breakthroughs in the development of cryogenic pipes

On June 6, Daye Special Steel successfully smelted A333 Gr.3 low-temperature steel in batches and rolled ultra-low temperature pipes smoothly. Steel pipe wall thickness, outside diameter and other data meet the requirements of the American Society for Materials and Testing, marking the company in the development of low-temperature pipe has made a new breakthrough.
 
A333 Gr.3 low temperature steel has excellent mechanical properties and good low temperature toughness, and is widely used in the storage and transportation of liquid ethylene and other gases in the petroleum and chemical industries. This grade of seamless steel pipe uses a low temperature environment with a design temperature of -101°C, and the working pressure is under 32MPa pressure, the working state is high pressure and low temperature, the inner surface is subjected to high compressive stress, and the inner surface has extremely high thermal stress due to a huge temperature difference. Therefore, the performance requirements of A333 Gr.3 steel in the petroleum and chemical industries are very high. At present, large-caliber A333 Gr.3 low-temperature steel pipes are mostly welded pipes, that is, welded from plates, or produced by forging process, which has high manufacturing cost and is one of the highest technical level, the most difficult and the highest value-added products in steel products used in the petrochemical industry. Whether it can successfully produce such products represents the overall technical level of an enterprise. In order to ensure the material requirements of this kind of steel pipe, our company independently designed the steel smelting process, and successfully realized the smooth rolling of tube billet production and steel pipe. The test results show that the properties of steel tubes obtained by this heat treatment process meet the requirements of ASTM standard.
